WordPress · Version 1.0.1

More control over Google consent signals.

ACookies 1.0.1 adds a native GTM consent adapter and clearer tools for configuring and checking Consent Mode on WordPress.

Defaults before measurement

Enabled installations establish denied optional Google consent in the page head. Saved visitor choices are restored before plugin-managed Google tags load. Basic mode delays those tags until the relevant choice; advanced mode lets Google tags load with denied optional consent and may send cookieless measurement requests.

Choose direct Google tags or native GTM

Existing sites keep the direct Google tag integration. Sites using Google Tag Manager can opt into the ACookies native consent template, which is available for manual import. It sets defaults and updates through GTM's consent APIs and supports regional defaults. Install it on Consent Initialization – All Pages and verify the container before publishing.

Explain Google data use in the banner

An optional banner setting adds Google analytics and advertising purposes and a link explaining how Google uses data. Your existing custom banner copy, stored choices and policy version remain in place.

Check timing and interoperability

Temporary public debug messages identify recognizable Google commands or scripts that appeared before consent defaults and show whether the native adapter has connected. The setup guide covers Tag Assistant, Google tag gateway, partial choices, withdrawal and WP Consent API.

Enable debug messages while checking your installation, then turn them off. Externally installed tags need their own ordering and blocking checks.

Google partner status

These features support ACookies' preparation for the Google Consent Mode CMP Partner Program. ACookies is not yet a Google-certified CMP. Partner admission and Community Template Gallery acceptance require separate Google reviews.
